Fronted by the super impressive Annie B., they will keep you out of your seats and keep you rocking!!” -Derek Capron, Divided Reality Promotions and Entertainment, Nashville, TN
The Complication encompasses an array of emotion and movement, creating earworms with undeniable rock grooves, making you want to start up the mosh pit, with driving drum & bass/guitar rhythms, and in-your-face vocal power. Offerings from the Milwaukee-based rock trio reflect on relationships and heartache, personal struggles, lessons learned, and tongue-in-cheek commentaries about life in the 21st century.
The band is working on building a strong following all over the Midwest, East Coast, and South. They’ve been able to make waves in small and large markets, including Madison, Chicago, The Twin Cities, Boston, Dallas, Nashville, and more. They’re touring with Bobaflex & Another Lost Year April 18th – May 7th, 2017.
The Complication is: Annie B (vocals & rhythm guitar), Dave “Roaddog” Bishop (drums), and Flip (bass).
Award-winning singer/songwriter and founding member Annie B started her career out on the West Coast. She moved to Los Angeles in 1999 and headlined L.A.’s best clubs with her punk-metal band Shut Up Marie for 7 years. S.U.M. picked up loads of press and college & commercial radio airplay all over the U.S. & appeared on national airplay charts alongside Death Cab for Cutie, The New Pornographers, & Coheed and Cambria, being heard on numerous radio stations from New York to L.A. with their 2 CD releases. With Annie’s return to hometown Milwaukee, The Complication rocks with similar momentum.
Hard-pounding drummer from the Midwest, Dave “Roaddog” Bishop has played with numerous bands throughout his career, from the West Coast to Chicago, to Texas and in between, playing in hard rock and metal bands for some time, including well-known Serve The Shame. His former bands have opened for Warrant, Slaughter, & Saliva, just to name a few. As The Dog says: Drums are his life, and he’s very thankful that he has the opportunity to do what he loves, and share this passion with the world!
Chicago bassist “Flip” has played with various groups in his career including Rubberhead, Bone Sugar, Catalano (CD “Into The Darkness”), Metamorphis, and The Travis Bickle All-Stars, co-founded with Bob Left. In 2001, he recorded a solo CD “Mike Filipek – Come On In” (Los Fish Records) that received airplay on 95WIIL Rock, US College Radio, and received some interest in Italy. Mike listens to all types of music from jazz, Cajun folk/Zydeco, Paris Café, Metal, Rap /Hip hop (mostly Dr. Dre Productions), and he has as much fun being a fan as he does performing.
The Complication is technically a trio, but the band works with the best guitarists from Southeast Wisconsin for many of their live shows. Award-winning guitarist Peter Mac sits in with the band often, bringing his undeniable passion and skill.
Notable appearances for The Complication include various summer concert series & festivals such as Summerfest, Rock USA, Bastille Days, WI State Fair, Port Fish Day, The Bay View Bash, numerous television, radio, and press highlights for the band including Annie’s cover/feature in HERLIFE Magazine, and their full-length debut CD garnering airplay all over the state.
FUN FACT: Annie’s vocals are featured on “Puppet Masters”, a Metallica tribute CD now available through Best Buy, Target, Wal-Mart, and all the big chains. Her lead vocals are heard on “Blackened”, a track that also features Tony Franklin on bass (Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band, The FIRM), Chris Poland on lead guitar (formerly of Megadeth), and Gene McEwen on drums (Armed Forces, Steel Prophet, Takara). According to Franklin, she “Nailed it!”
